The Casa-Museo César Manrique, located in the charming village of Haría on the island of Lanzarote, is a tribute to the renowned artist and architect, César Manrique. Nestled within a beautiful palm grove, the museum captures the essence of Lanzarote’s traditional heritage, which deeply inspired Manrique throughout his life.

In 1986, Manrique embarked on a project to transform a dilapidated farmhouse on his purchased farmland into his new residence. Blending traditional architectural elements with a modern aesthetic, he created a home that exemplified both comfort and beauty. Until his passing in 1992, Manrique lived and worked in this house. In 2013, it was opened to the public, allowing visitors to explore the rooms and studio where the artist spent his final years.

As visitors enter the Casa-Museo, they are greeted by two courtyards that unveil a captivating collection of personal belongings, chance discoveries, and handcrafted objects that Manrique ingeniously repurposed for their aesthetic appeal. The space exudes elegance and refinement, boasting fine materials and tasteful design. The abundant indoor and outdoor plant life adds to the serene ambiance, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout.

A separate building houses the studio where César Manrique painted daily. Preserved exactly as he left it, the studio is adorned with oils, tables adorned with drawings, easels, and unfinished paintings, providing a glimpse into the artist’s creative process and intimate work environment.

Visiting the Casa-Museo César Manrique offers a unique and immersive experience, allowing guests to delve into the tranquility of the natural surroundings while exploring the deeply personal world of Lanzarote’s esteemed artist. It is worth noting that due to the unique characteristics of the building, it is partially accessible to individuals with reduced mobility, ensuring that as many people as possible can enjoy this extraordinary cultural destination.
