In the heart of the cosy town of Hermigua, there is the perfect place to fully immerse yourself in the true essence of the history of La Gomera’s culture. The Ethnographic museum presents the history of the Canary Islands through an exciting historical, social and cultural journey of the Guanches, the old inhabitants of the land.

The journey recounts the evolution of cultural traditions, from post-colonial influences to the deep-rooted traditions of the island, by means of posters and original utensils. Step by step you will be captivated by the fascinating exhibition in which culture, tradition and history intertwine and immerse you in the development of the island.

The visit also includes a walking tour of the old Finca where the museum is located and where typical Canary Island plantations can be found, e.g. mango, banana, palm tree, etc., whose fruits are used by the restaurant Los Telares next door to offer genuine, zero-kilometre products. At the end of the tour you will have the unique opportunity to purchase a selection of handicraft and hand-made products, all manufactured by the island’s citizens.
