Bodega Los Berrazales
the flavour of Gran Canaria at the palm of your hand
The strong musky scent of roasted coffee is a natural soul remedy for the gloomy feeling brought on by the thick clouds rolling through the hills of the Agaete Valley. The rich green of Arabica Tipica coffee plants and vibrant red of the coffee cherries spread out to dry are a feast for your eyes & soon all of your senses are going to be heightened with this experience.

At the foot of the cliffs of Tamadaba nestled in a century-old Canarian pine forest, Bodega Los Berrazales opens its doors to everyone with an affinity for the finer things in life. Tropical oranges, fragrant coffee, and earthy wines – at Finca La Laja you can taste Gran Canaria’s flavors at the tip of your tongue.

Sustainable indulgence at Bodega Los Berrazales
The 200-year-old Finca La Leja coffee plantation and winery has earned its name over many centuries. The Canary Islands are famous for their countless microclimates. This unique meteorological phenomenon blesses the north of Gran Canaria with rich agriculture and a fruitful harvest. The location of the vineyards is almost at sea level, but the hollow valley protects them from the salinity of the sea breeze.

The Lugo-Jorge family made a commitment to sustainability by planting and cultivating coffee and grapes with respect for the agricultural and wine traditions of the area. The dedication, craftsmanship, and love that goes into the creation of their red and white wine portfolio allow us to taste the aromas and flavors of the Agaete valley with every sip. It does not come as a surprise that in its short history, Bodegas Los Berrazales have already won important awards for its excellence. Their dry white wine made from muscat grapes is truly the star of their selection – it is unlike anything you have ever tasted before. Marta explains the secret behind their winemaking:

From the grape to the wine bottle - an immersive experience
At Finca La Laja travelers can look behind the curtains of the wine and coffee-making process. A guided tour with one of the dedicated Bodega employees takes you to the orange and coffee crops on the La Laja estate. Furthermore, the tour lifts the mysteries behind the coffee roasting procedure and the wine-making process. After engaging your mind with this flood of information, you can rest underneath grapevines and banana plants. Bodega La Berrazales will spoil you with a selection of delicious traditional Canarian treats – homemade chorizo spread, hand-selected cheese from the valley, and green apple & coffee jam from the backyard of the La Laja estate. Without a doubt, during the tasting, you will fall in love with their artisan wines. Luckily, you have the chance to take a piece of the Agaete valley home with you when visiting their small shop.
