Authentic cuisine
meets cosmopolitan fusion
at Casa Tagoro
Often, traveling is associated with setting out for the great unknown and leaving everything familiar behind. However, responsible traveling does not always have to be grand and daring. Sometimes trying authentic local cuisine is just the thing to broaden one’s horizon. Casa Tagoro is a hidden gem for fantastic cuisine with a cosmopolitan touch – tucked away in the mountains of rural Tenerife the restaurant will surprise you with refreshing creativity that will turn any meal into an experience.
0-kilometer food inspired by the world's delicacies
Gerhard Brodtrager’s creations put a modern twist on European cuisine. He pays homage to Canarian ingredients and takes guests on a culinary journey – where no corner of the world is left unexplored. With brave creativity and refined skill, Casa Tagoro’s menu is a true reflection of Gerhard’s passion and love for the art of cooking.

As we enter through the massive stone walls of the Casa Tagoro townhouse, we are greeted with a warmth that feels like stepping into a living room. Antique furniture and carefully-curated trinkets invite guests to take a seat underneath the shade of the historic Canarian balconies.
We set off on a culinary journey as the zesty Spanish Canva mixed with homemade basil syrup melts on our tongues. The smell of freshly baked bread makes its way to the sunny terrace and an assortment of delicacies is placed in the middle of the table. The tangy black olive spread, delicate caper mousse, and rich cottage cheese with smoked paprika are best enjoyed with the recommended white wine from the bodega just down the street.

The mouthwatering pink of the chilled beetroot soup with horseradish garnish served as an amuse gueule is not only a feast for the eyes but also an explosion of refreshing flavors.
At Casa Tagoro, embracing local ingredients does not mean forsaking the exciting recipes from other countries and different cultures. Gerhard Brodtrager’s Asian-inspired miso soup is the lovechild of combining the global with the local. This fully vegan dish also represents the culture of sustainability and inclusivity which is valued at Casa Tagoro.

Just like life itself, nothing is ever just black or white – sweet or sour. The locally-sourced grilled goat cheese, served on a bed of beetroot and zucchini salad with maracuja vinaigrette, is a perfect reminder of this sentiment. The evening reaches its crescendo with an elaborate meal of codfish nestled in angel’s hair served on a potato bed and steamed pumpkin. The flirty Mojito souflé rounds up the night perfectly and leaves our plates yearning for more.

A culinary experience with a historic atmosphere
In 1994 Gerhard and Karin Brodtrager and their daughter Felicitas uprooted their life in Germany to fulfil their lifelong dream of opening the doors of a restaurant. The island of eternal spring with its fascinating culinary traditions and rich agriculture seemed like the obvious choice for the Brodtrager family. Looking for an authentic setting and homey ambiance for his passion project, Gerhard fell in love with an antique ruin in rural Tenerife. With lots of passion and dedication, the Brodtrager family turned a ruin – left to be forgotten – into a place where cosmopolitan fusion meets authentic Canarian heritage.
