Finca Argayall
where rural tourism meets mindful living
As soon as you step foot on the mystical island of La Gomera, you will lose yourself in the hundred shades of rich green. The deep valleys and majestic volcanic peaks invite you to experience the depths of this rural paradise. Wanderers, who dare to take the road less traveled, are rewarded with memories for the ages. On this island that asks you to dive head-first into the unknown, Finca Argayall opens its doors to curious travelers wanting to explore not only stunning views and authentic culture but are looking for discovery in a more introspective sense.
It is not a coincidence that spending time at Finca Argayall feels like stepping into a different world – one where slow and mindful living is not only a way of escaping our busy lives but a daily practice. The Argayall project was founded in 1986 when a group of like-minded individuals came together with the intention of creating an alternative, experimental and experiential community. Sustainability and the desire for responsible living formed the basis of Argayall’s vision and accountability and improvement dictate their every move. To this day, the Finca aims to guide people on their journey of discovering a sense of personal transformation and freedom in this community. Furthermore, Finca Argayall is dedicated to continuing to expand their vision to the future generation by impacting people’s lives during and after the time spent at the Finca.

Sadyana took a leap of faith by accepting the challenge of managing Finca Argayall with a group of like-minded individuals. It is evident that passion and dedication are the very core of their vision for Finca Argayall. Together with a group of hard-working volunteers, Sadyana and his management team invest time and heart in the sustenance and continued growth of the Finca.

Community - the driving force behind the Finca
Finca Argayall welcomes everyone with open arms, whether your goal is to arrive or, to get away – to explore or to forget. Togetherness, community, and connectedness form the basis for living, working or vacationing at the Finca. With a team of open, flexible, self-responsible, and humourous people Finca Argayall provides the ultimate alternative holiday experience. A stay at this remote estate feels more like coming home and reconnecting with long-lost friends than setting off to a foreign country on a grand adventure. Sadyana and his team strongly believe that “it’s the people that make the place” and therefore, Finca Argayall aims to create a safe space for anybody who is looking for a community of like-minded individuals.

Landscape and architecture
Sustainability at Finca Argayall follows you every step of the way. From uniquely designed accommodations that blend perfectly into nature to meals served with ingredients from the backyard. Everything at Finca Argayall embodies a “zero-kilometer and recycle & reuse philosophy”.
When staying in one of the private apartments equipped with everything that your heart could possibly desire, overlooking the endless Atlantic ocean or the blooming garden, slow traveling and mindfulness become an experience for all your senses.

The tranquil holiday apartments up in the mountains and just a stone’s throw away from the Finca Argayall estate are – without a doubt – the most exclusive experience. A private pool, ocean views, and all-around calmness make these charming accommodations the perfect place to disconnect and spend a splendid holiday.
The big, bright, and airy apartments are designed with incredible attention to detail and make you feel at home right from the beginning. Travelers get to soak up the sunshine on the sunbeds right outside on the communal terrace or cool their heads with a dip in the pool tucked away under a majestic tree.

Mindfulness and wellbeing
Well-being, mindfulness, and self-discovery are truly the pillars of the Argayall community. Tucked away in a quiet corner the meditation hall offers a tranquil place to retreat and refocus. A wide range of yoga and meditation practices invite guests to look within and develop a quiet mind. Wellbeing at Finca Argayall is centered around values of respect, authenticity, integrity, and creativity. Days here are structured around mindfulness and self-awareness.

Even before the soft glow of the morning sun paints the Argayall valley in vibrant gold, guests and community members gather for Vipassana practice. This ancient technique of self-observation emphasizes the interconnection between mind and body. After replenishing the soul, guests can nourish their bodies with a delicious breakfast where an abundance of fruits, growing in the Argayall backyard, freshly baked bread, and local cheeses are served for everybody to enjoy.
In the afternoons, yoga and guided meditation practices provide a welcome break and allow guests to be fully present during their holiday. In between old trees draw you in to take a rest, the crystal-clear ocean waters call on you to find calmness in their movement and the eternal sunshine of Canaries offers you to recharge all your batteries.

Fauna and Flora
The centerpiece of Finca Argayall’s sustainability concept is the permaculture garden. Volunteers and crew members alike take the utmost care and practice genuine dedication when it comes to the Finca’s garden and plantation.

When walking between the colorful fruit and vegetable patches it becomes evident that at Finca Argayall permaculture is much more than just a more ecological way of gardening, but rather a design philosophy providing an innovative framework for creating sustainable ways of living. But the crew’s love for sustainable farming does not stop there, in an attempt to reintroduce biodiversity to the land after the strains of its monocultural past started to show, Finca Argayall had great success with their Sponge Garden system. It even allows them to produce crops under the Spanish certified organic farm label.

Every day for breakfast lunch and dinner the passionate kitchen crew members work their magic to prepare rich, nourishing, and handmade dishes for guests and the community. Salads, herbs, veggies, avocados, papayas, mangos, bananas, and many other fruits find their way from the sustainable garden into the kitchen and onto the guest’s plates – allowing everyone to indulge in a healthy meal that truly feels like tasting the rainbow.

The oriental Baba ghanoush spread, zesty raw vegan couscous salad, and earthy beetroot hummus mixed with lush greens and edible flowers from the backyard are only a small portion of the delicious feast that is waiting at Finca Argayall.

The sustainability journey comes full circle as organic matter from the kitchen is composted and by this turned into new soil for the Finca garden. The remote resort is almost fully energy self-sufficient. Especially in the summer months, the many solar panels soak up the Canarian sun and turn it into sustainable energy resources for the Finca to use. Furthermore, freshwater from La Gomera’s mountains is filtered and UV-disinfected, so guests can enjoy crystal clear drinking water straight from the tap.
We are proud to have experienced a sustainable accommodation like Finca Argayall honouring responsible travel and mindful living, and we invite you to do the same.
